Building Rentals and
Special Event Facilities
Rules and Regulations

Rental of the facilities at the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship is bound by the following regulations:

Reservations are considered final only when the Fellowship receives the following:

There are many events occurring at the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship. All building use must be made by appointment.

Time Allocation
The rental fee includes the time listed on your contract. This includes set up, the event and clean up.

ALL EVENTS SHALL END BY 10:30 PM
EVERYONE MUST VACATE THE BUILDING BY 11:30 PM

Advertising
If a non-MUF user publicizes an activity at the Fellowship, that ad is to read "using the facilities of the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship."

Delivery/Pick-up
Arrangements for delivery and pick-up of all rental equipment, floral, liquor, etc. must be made through the Rental Agent. The Fellowship is not responsible for any items brought to or left in the building or on the grounds. For weekend events, deliveries are permitted on Friday between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm. Pick-ups are permitted on Monday between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.

Additional Equipment
No audio-visual equipment is available through MUF. Equipment may be brought in following consultation with the Rental Agent.

Tents
Tents may be rented and erected on the patio for any events. The largest tent size allowed is a 30'x40'. For weekend events, tents will be erected on Thursday or Friday and removed on Monday.

Piano
The use of the pianos in the Meeting Room and Terrace Room are included in the rental fee. Their use must be noted on the contract.

Furniture Arrangement
The piano in the Terrace Room may not be moved outside the room. Either the renter or the caterer must return any item moved out of place to its original position. Nothing is to be placed on the pianos or harpsichord, except for linens.

Space Usage
The Meeting Room is to be used only for concerts, auctions, lectures, etc. Food and beverage are not permitted in the Meeting Room. The Library is not to be used for food or beverage service, eg, food stations or bar setups. Upstairs rooms are limited to the restrooms, unless otherwise specified on the contract.

Flammable Objects
Smoking is not allowed inside the building, but is permitted outside. Cigarette/cigar butts must be placed in the receptacles provided on the front porch. Smoking is permitted on the back patio, but the renter must provide the receptacles. If butts are found in the grass, a clean-up fee will be deducted from the renter's security deposit. No fires may be lit in the fireplaces. Candles used inside the building must be encased in glass.

Decorations
Consult with the Rental Agent in advance on decorating plans. Nothing is to be placed on the acoustic panels in the Great Hall. Light use of masking tape in other rooms may be permitted after consultation with and guidance from the On-Site Event Coordinator. SCOTCH TAPE AND STAPLES ARE NOT PERMITTED ANYWHERE. If renters wish the Fellowship staff to remove decorations after the event, an additional fee will apply and arrangements must be made in advance in writing with the Rental Agent. During December, the building is decorated with a Christmas theme.

Catering
A professional caterer must be used unless the Fellowship grants a waiver, which it shall have sole discretion to determine based on the circumstances of each case. A copy of these regulations must be signed and submitted by the caterer. The caterer must provide a Certificate of Insurance indicating Liability coverage of at least $1 million and host liquor liability. They must also designate the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship as additional insured for the day of the event. Caterer tours and consultations on the premises must be scheduled with the Rental Agent.

On-Site Coordination
A Fellowship On-Site Event Coordinator and/or Custodian must be on the premises during the hours of the rental to supervise building usage, equipment storage, cleanup, and address emergencies. The renter is responsible for and must arrange with the caterer or others for the set up and take down of tables and chairs, in consultation with the On-Site Coordinator.

Music
Music must stop by 10:30 pm. Amplified music is not allowed outside the building. When there is amplified music and other noise in the building, it must be kept at a level that will not disturb the neighborhood.

Alcoholic Beverages
All service of alcoholic beverages shall be in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey and local ordinances. If any admission, entrance fee, or donation is charged for this event, there shall be no alcoholic beverages served unless a permit is obtained from the Township of Morris and approved by the state ABC.

Raffles
A Raffle may be held only with the prior approval of the Township of Morris.

Climate Control
The Meeting Room is air-conditioned but the rest of the building is not. Electric fans may be brought in with consultation and agreement from the Rental Agent. Heating and air conditioning adjustments may be made through the Fellowship On-Site Coordinator and/or the Custodian.

Clean-up
All rental equipment must be re-stacked in designated storage areas. Trash and garbage is to be bagged and deposited in the dumpster. Recyclable items are to be placed in the receptacles below the back porch. Cardboard boxes are to be flattened and also placed beneath the back porch. If the building is not returned to its original condition, a clean up/move fee will be deducted from the renter's security deposit.

Parking
Parking is permitted in the parking lots near the garage, the service area below the side porch adjacent to the kitchen and the lower parking lot accessible via Columbia Turnpike. Parking on Normandy Heights Road is limited to the same side of the street as the Fellowship. There will be No Parking on the side of the street opposite the Fellowship; on lawns or driveways; on the side streets off Normandy Heights Road; or in any designated "No Parking" areas. Events of broad public interest or those advertised on TV or radio require a traffic officer. They are available through the Morris Township Police Department.

Late Payments
Payments are due as stated on the rental contract. Payments must be received in our office by the date on the contract. If the payments are not received on time, MUF reserves the right to cancel any event or charge the renter a late payment fee out of his security deposit.
