WHAT WE AIM TO DO
The Committee on Ministry (or “COM”) is a group of six Fellowship members elected by the
Congregation to work with its members and the professional ministry to promote and support all we
are doing in our congregational life.
COM works with individuals or groups when they have a problem or complaint by encouraging direct
and constructive communication among members of the congregation, the professional ministry and staff.
COM responds with positive communication when there are misunderstandings or grievances raised by
members or the minister or both.
COM may organize “town meetings” to provide a format for all members to discuss a particular
issue that concerns the Fellowship and to listen to each other.
COM makes recommendations to committees and the Board when there may be gaps or deficiencies
in our ministry.
COM Principles
We recognize that the members of the congregation are a group of strong-willed and passionate individuals. Sometimes we will not get along.
COM has no authority to decide anything or carry out a specific action.
Because a sense of comfort and security is vital for frank dialogue to occur, and privacy needs are paramount, COM meetings are confidential.
The COM takes a holistic view of the congregation and its ministry; it stands apart from individual or group agendas.
Any member or friend
of the Fellowship can speak to any
member of COM to discuss anything
that affects the health and well-being
of our Fellowship.
Morristown Unitarian Fellowship
MISSION & COVENANT
We, the members of the Morristown Unitarian Fellowship, mindful of the rich diversity and essential oneness of human experience, covenant to weave together the fabric of community from the strands of our separate lives. This is our pledge:
To create for our children and ourselves a spiritual home that will nurture, challenge and offer us renewal.
To seek what is true even as we celebrate the mystery of existence.
To reach out to all who share our liberal religious values and participate in the broader Unitarian Universalist movement.
To work for social justice and the well-being of our planet Earth.
