Fall Food Drive Successful!
The Justice Council and Morristown UU are committed to eliminating food insecurity. We are working in the community in several ways including joining with other area congregations to provide meals, as well as several food (and other needed items) drives each year.
For each Food Drive we choose a community organization that is making an impact and needs our help. We chose Table of Hope this Fall based on the good work that they do and their immediate need to replenish their warehouse.
I first became aware of Table of Hope when I saw their “food truck” in a parking lot in downtown Morristown. They are faithfully there every Thursday providing food to families. This isn’t the only thing they do, but it definitely made an impression on me as to their commitment to helping neighbors fight their own battle with food insecurity.
From their website: “Table of Hope sprouted from the nurturing grounds of community solidarity and unwavering resilience. Founded in 2011 in the wake of the devastation brought by Hurricane Irene, it emerged as a beacon of hope and restoration within Morris County.”
If you missed the Food Drive in October, check out their website and consider making an online contribution. Also, at this time of year, there are many opportunities to fight hunger and food insecurity. Every can, bag of rice and dollar counts!
