Invite a Friend Sunday, October 4, plus how to grow MUUF this fall!
At a recent Welcome Team meeting we welcomed Irene Mendelson as Chairwoman. There we discussed that a new church year was beginning and a perfect time to reach out to our neighbors or friends to MUUF's designated "Invite a Friend Sunday." My favorite line is "I need to invite a friend to church on Oct 4 at 10:00, will you be my friend?" In the past twenty years MUUF is David and my third UU, in each one we'd pick up some ideas, below are a few!
Twelve Tips on Growing MUUF this fall:
Bring someone to a Sunday Service - October 4th INVITE a FRIEND SUNDAY.
Talk with someone you don't know during coffee hour.
Tell returning visitors you are glad they came back.
Intentionally sit beside a visitor at a Sunday service to make them feel welcomed.
Put a MUUF decal on your car, they are being ordered as we speak. See Nick.
Practice a response to the question, "What is Unitarian Universalism?"
Talk to non-members, encouraging them to join our community. They can be recognized by their name tags which lack the colorful border around their name, and or the newest visitors tags will sport a pale green insert.
Invite a non-member to join you at one of our many small groups.
Carry something that shows our Values and MUUF address. I recently gave this to our physician and a sales person who loves to sing!
Promote our rental space to individuals and groups you know...a good money maker and a great way to make new friends!
Visit other UU churches and other faith communities while on vacation for ideas and share this with the Board and Staff.
Give a copy of UU World magazine to a friend and leave extra copies at the Welcome Desk.
