We are pleased to announce a new Movie Series this fall.

On October 10th: Lightworkers at 6:30 PM in Chu Family Hall as part of our Democracy in Action Day.

Lightworkers, a film about activism, civic responsibility and how everyday citizens work to protect democracy. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the film’s writer, director, and producer, Bobby Roth.

From Bobby Roth:

“I first asked what constitutes “activism” and followed with “what can you do?” I was interested in how “good people” lived their lives. I asked how people became who they were. I asked what is courage, empathy and joy. I approached these questions from a socio-historic perspective that I thought would be the best context for my audience, but who was I trying to reach?

Despite my desire for inclusivity, I knew I could not reach everyone, but I wanted to reach the widest swath of Americana possible. I decided to focus on the voting public, particularly those who might shift the balance of power in the congress… those voting in the midterms.”

On November 15th at 4:00 in the Sanctuary, we will be presenting Bad Faith.

A film Exploring how Christian nationalism has become the most powerful anti-democratic force in the USA, with an unparalleled ability to destroy democracy from within. Secular and interfaith leaders are joining forces to defend the country from this march to fascism, but Americans seem unaware of the threat.

See you at the movies!
