Pride Evolution Through the Lens of Independence

July 7,6 pm:Independence Day & Reflections on Pride. Come join us as we reflect on July 4th & its significance today.  We’ll also reflect on Pride 2025—its significance & how it has changed over the years.

July 14, 6 pm: Viewing & Discussion: “The Celluloid Closet”. Vito Russo’s book on the depiction of LGBTQ characters in Hollywood cinema is turned into a documentary on how queer lives were relegated to the shadows of the screen. It features celebrity interviews and an abundance of film clips. While “The Celluloid Closet” underscores the frustrations LGBTQ+ audiences have had with negative representations, it also ends with hope (later realized in subsequent films) for a more enlightened future.

July 21, 6 pm: The Joys of July: Come join is as we celebrate July and its fireworks, barbecues, and parades. We’ll also learn some fun facts about the month, such as the first person walking on the moon.

Refreshments are served at each meeting, and attendees are asked for a small donation.

July 28, 6 pm: The Florham Park Diner: Enjoy good fun & food at a reasonable price!  We’ll meet at the restaurant located at 182 Ridgedale Ave in Florham Park.  Please rsvp by Friday,July 25, to Gordon Sauer atpresident@gaamc.org.
