Starting on September 27, Morristown UU is sponsoring a month-long food drive in support of the Table of HOPE. Drop off food in the bins in the Great Hall and outside of Chu Family Hall at any time between September 27 and October 25. We’re excited to join our partners at the Table of HOPE in helping our neighbors in need of food. We are collecting all non-perishable food items (e.g., canned goods, shelf staple milk, juice, pasta, cereal, peanut butter, jelly). See the flyer for their most needed items: Table of HOPE will also gladly accept cash donations, if you prefer. There will be a QR code at the Justice Table on Sundays. IDEAS: Fill a reusable bag for the food drive next time you go grocery shopping. Or, better yet, one per week! Involve the kids. Give them the list of items and let them (or help them) fill up a bag to share. Request contributions of food from friends and family (or share the donation QR code). Re-launching Cinema Circles for 2026-2027 Do you enjoy watching movies from Netflix or the library in the convenience of your own home at a time of your choosing? Would you enjoy later discussing what you've seen with folks on Zoom or someone’s home who have seen the same movie? We have six Cinema circles underway at this time and every year or so we give people an opportunity to be in a different circle and create new circles for new folks. Starting this week and continuing through the end of October, we’re re-launching Cinema Circles of up to a dozen people who will meet monthly in person or via Zoom. If you complete the form now, we will either fit you into an existing circle or form a new one based on your schedule, etc. Click here for the form We'll be re-forming the circles and starting new ones through the end of October. New for 2026-2027!: Love movies, but not the commitment? We’re soliciting interest in having ‘one and done’ offerings where a movie is announced for the ­entire fellowship, folks watch it on their own and on a date the next month or so for folks to come to gather at the Fellowship or perhaps via Zoom to discuss it ‘Cinema Circle style’. Looking for a friendly space to slow down, reflect, and connect with folks who get it? We’re launching three Small Groups this fall centered around interdependence—exploring how we show up for each other, practice deep listening, and build real community. Adults Discussion Group Small Group designed for adult UUs to explore interdependence. Through shared covenant, deep listening, focus readings, and reflection questions, participants reflect on global connections, asking for help, and building community. Facilitated by Jason Salisbury. Starts September 27th. Parents Small Group Small Group session for parents centered on deep listening, personal reflection, and interdependence. Through covenant-building, shared readings, and reflection questions, parents explore connection, self-love, and modeling interdependence for their children. Starts October 18th. Facilitated by Caroline Blanchard Older Adults Discussion Group We are currently looking to develop a group for older adults focused on deep listening and reflection. Through shared covenant, quiet centering, and questions on connection and interdependence, participants explore self-love, life experiences, and mutual support in community. We are looking for a facilitator for this group. You will have all a written guide to help with facilitation put together by the UUA. If you are interested in leading please let Nick know. Many members helped to create our June 14 service - Preaching UU Values from the Broadway Stage. And folks have been asking “What are we going to do next?” It's a good question to ask as we start another Fellowship year. Creating services involving participants of all ages is a satisfying way to be involved in Fellowship life. Sometimes we replace traditional single-sermon formats with interactive, participatory, and multi-voiced experiences. If you have a theme for a service that you’d like to help develop, please be in touch with Barbara Castellana Stasiak or other members of our Worship Arts team. We can brainstorm together, help you shape a proposed service, and perhaps find a spot on the Fellowship's Sunday calendar for a new creation. Meanwhile, you can enjoy watching and listening again to our creative production from last June. There is now a newly edited version up on MUUF’s YouTube channel. The title is now “Preaching UU Values from the Broadway Stage (final edit)” and the description now contains links to chapters (each part of the service) plus a link to a pdf of the Order of Service booklet, which contains additional information and resources regarding the lyricists, composers, and shows we explored. Many thanks to Gabor Kiss, who spent hours this summer editing a more polished version of the original footage. And remember that you can share this Sunday Service (or others that you were particularly moved by). Post your own comments and the link for your friends and family on Facebook or other social media. Active members sharing links to our Fellowship YouTube videos is a good way to let the wider world know that we exist and give them a sense of what we UUs are about. Maybe they’ll decide to check us out.

The Board of Trustees would like to welcome Candice Donaldson to the Endowment Committee as an appointee to the position vacated by Tom Perch. We thank Tom for his work on Endowment this past year and for stepping up when he was needed. Candice is a former Board treasurer and will be able to step into this role on Endowment easily. Her term will expire in 2028. Thank you to Candice (and her family) for agreeing to serve on this important committee for the Morristown UU Fellowship.

Our own Steve Kreha started a Parkinson's Support Group five years ago. It meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month at 10:00 a.m. for one hour in the Family room. The photo of this week's meeting we were missing six regular attendees. Steve faithfully sends out an email to attendees prior to the gathering. The sessions are very informative as during check-in new meds or therapies are shared with the group. We've had Paul Ferm teach us Tai Chi moves and Parkinson's class teachers at the YMCA came to explain their programs. Spouses and or caretaker's are invited to join in. Our Fall Food Drive in support of Table of Hope in Morris County will be 9/27 - 10/18. Volunteers are needed to help out during coffee hour on Sunday mornings and to deliver donations to Table of Hope in Morristown each week. Ingathering is a time when we come back together in community and start our new program year here at Morristown UU. One ritual we carry is the /Ingathering of water from our summers – everyone is encouraged to bring a little water (just a sample) from a meaningful place – your favorite waterfall, beach, lake, or simply the life-giving water from your own home. You may also bring water that represents a meaningful experience, even if that water is not from the place where you had the experience. We gather our waters together in community, and the water is then sterilized and used in other rituals throughout the year. This Sunday we are also starting a new monthly Volunteer of the Month recognition, beginning this month with our quiet and much-appreciated Diane Marks. After service, we’ll continue coming together for our Ingathering Potluck. Bring a dish to share based on your last name: A - F: Dessert G - L: Side Dish / Salad M - Z: Main Dish Drop off your dish in Chu Family Hall before the 10 AM Ingathering Service. All are welcome to come break bread with us and mingle with our Beloved Community! Folks are welcome to come help set up at 9am and/or help clean up after the potluck. Many hands make light work! On Sunday, September 20th, our Faith Formation program will begin with the Blessing of the Backpacks. All students are welcome to bring backpacks to worship for the blessing, and get ready for a great year in our Faith Formation program! This year we begin a new curriculum called “Woven Faith”, created by the UUA, where we’ll be exploring a new theme each month at all levels of Faith Formation - including a new Pre-K class for 2-4 year olds and a Adult Discussion Group. Save the Date: Democracy in Action at the Morristown Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, Saturday, October 10 The Morristown Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, along with Red Wine and Blue and the Morris Area League of Women Voters are proud to present a full slate of events. 3:00 PM - Postcard Writing - Come one, come all! We will be focusing on getting out the vote, especially for minority and underrepresented people. An anonymous Fellowship member is generously purchasing the first 500 vetted addresses, cards, labels and stamps (at a cost of approximately one dollar each). The program is called Rank the Desserts. Members from Red Wine and Blue will be making desserts, and we will encourage our members to do the same. Stay tuned for additional details. 6:30 PM - Screening of the movie Lightworkers - Our partners at Red Wine and Blue have arranged for a screening of Lightworkers. In this powerful, feature-length documentary, 37 diverse people talk about their work to save our country from fascism. Afterward, the filmmakers will host a Zoom question and answer session. Other activities will be added, so stay tuned for updates. We are excited to present Democracy in Action just three weeks ahead of the midterm elections. Volunteers will be needed to help with hospitality, set-up, clean-up dessert making, and other aspects of this event.
