Vision of Ministry for 2026-2027

Through the Open Questions process last year, the Board asked the congregation a variety of questions: What ministry does the world need from us at this time in history?, How do we work toward the opportunities to change while managing the challenges?, and What does growth look like?

Based on your valuable contributions to the Open Questions process,the Board has developed an updated Vision of Ministry for 2026-2027. This year’s “Vision of Ministry” was designed to identify and strategically focus the congregation’s time, talent, and treasures.

This year’s Vision of Ministry for the congregation is to pursue policies, procedures, and programs aimed at:

Increasing impact of social justice through focused work. Social Justice is essential to living our UU beliefs in the world. We will increase our effectiveness in this area by reviewing our commitments and organizational priorities.

Increasing internal and external visibility to members and the wider community. We firmly believe that the congregation is the curriculum. We want to build on last year’s Vision of Ministries to improve our visibility in the community as well as within our Congregation as an example of the values we live everyday.

Developing strategies to preserve, share, and utilize our congregation’s history and mission. We will safeguard our congregational heritage as well as identify ways to preserve the record of our ongoing work.

Improving membership, friends’, and youth engagement in the work of the fellowship across the membership lifespan. Spiritual development happens at all stages of life. We will enhance the relationship of friends and members to the congregation through all stages of their journey.

We invite you to engage with us this year through conversations and the Open Questions process as we ask you how we honor our past, deciding what to keep and what to let go, and to reflect on our individual journeys over the membership lifespan.

The Committee on Ministries (COM) and the UUA Congregational Life team will facilitate Open Questions throughout the year. In addition, the Board has created a structured time the first Sunday of the month during coffee hour for open dialogue and questions. As always, congregation members are also welcome to attend open Board Meetings the second Wednesday of the month at 7 p.m. in Room B.
