Our upcoming Summer Day Camp (August 24–28) is more than just a program for our children—it is a community-led experiment in radical hospitality and values-based play. To make this trial week a success and ensure a safe, joyful environment for our kids, we are looking for passionate volunteers to fill several key roles.

Whether you enjoy mentoring children, have a specific expertise to share, or prefer helping behind the scenes, there is a place for you!

1. Camp Counselors (4–6 Volunteers Needed)

We are looking for dedicated individuals to serve as the primary caretakers and mentors for our campers (grades 1–5) throughout the week.

  • The Commitment: Availability for the full week of camp (August 24–28).

  • Orientation: All counselors must attend a mandatory orientation with Nick on Sunday, August 23, to walk through the curriculum, safety protocols, and logistics.

  • The Role: You’ll be the heart of the camp, leading small groups, facilitating activities, and building a supportive community for our kids.

2. Theme Day Leads

Do you have professional expertise or lived experience in one of our daily themes? We are looking for "guest experts" to help lead activities and share their stories for a single day. We are seeking leads for:

  • The Environment: (Sustainable energy/solar power)

  • Pride: (Celebrating LGBTQ+ joy and history)

  • Immigration Justice: (History of immigration and building a welcoming community)

  • UU History: (Bringing the stories of our ancestors to life)

  • Making an Impact: (Activism and movement building)

3. Camp Resource & Logistics Coordinator

If you prefer a role that is less "high-energy" but absolutely vital, this is for you! We need someone to help keep the camp running smoothly behind the scenes.

  • The Role: Compiling supplies for daily activities, checking registration forms, and being a helpful presence for parents and counselors during drop-off and pick-up.

  • The Commitment: Ideally present each day to assist as needed, ensuring our counselors can focus entirely on the children.

Why Volunteer? This camp is a trial to see if we can make this a long-term staple of our Fellowship. By volunteering, you aren’t just helping for a week—you are helping build the foundation for years of UU youth programming to come.

If you are interested, please reach out to Nick at nwallwork@muuf.org.
