  • Can Do Summer Week 8: Toothpick Architecture

Become an architect this week! We’re using toothpicks and mini-marshmallows to build structures. Children will design towers, houses, and other creations, then find ways to combine their work into one large construction. We’ll enjoy a book about an architect and take an imaginary elevator ride up a tall building during our mindfulness.

  • Seeking Volunteers to Lead Adult Religious Education Classes and Small Groups in 2025–2026

Are you passionate about spiritual growth, building community, and lifelong learning? Do you enjoy guiding discussions, sharing creative practices, or exploring meaningful themes? If so, we invite you to consider leading or co-leading a class or small group as part of our Adult Religious Education (ARE) Program for the 2025–2026 year! This year’s ARE offerings are designed to be dynamic, inclusive, and engaging, with options for both monthly Sunday morning and weeknight classes — providing flexibility for both participants and facilitators. Class Facilitators Needed We’re looking for volunteers to help lead the following rotating class series: 🖌 Creativity Matters Use hands-on creative practices to explore spiritual themes. This class is perfect for those who love art, music, movement, or crafting as forms of expression and reflection. No artistic experience necessary—just a willingness to guide and inspire! ✍️ UU Writers Facilitate writing-based reflection using prompts tied to monthly Soul Matters themes. Ideal for those who enjoy journaling, storytelling, or poetry, and want to help others uncover their inner voice. 🧘 Practice Matters Guide a small group through spiritual practices from various traditions—such as meditation, prayer, chanting, or movement. You don’t need to be an expert, just willing to explore and practice alongside others. Training, support, and materials will be provided. These classes are designed to be approachable for lay leaders with a heart for community and curiosity. Small Group Leaders Needed We are also recruiting facilitators for our Soul Matters Small Groups , which meet twice monthly at times chosen by each group. These small groups offer an opportunity to engage deeply with spiritual themes through personal sharing, deep listening, and mutual support. We will also host a monthly Sunday drop-in group , and we’re looking for leaders to help facilitate these larger, one-time conversations. Why Lead? Leading a class or small group is a powerful way to grow in your own spiritual life, deepen your connection to the Fellowship, and create space for others to explore meaning, purpose, and community. Whether you’re a seasoned facilitator or simply someone with a passion for connection and learning, we’d love to hear from you. Interested in volunteering? Join us for a Zoom meeting on Tuesday, August 27 at 7:30 PM to learn more and connect with others interested in adult faith development. Or reach out to our Director of Lifespan Religious Education,  Nick Wallwork if you’re ready to raise your hand! Together, we can make this year’s Adult Religious Education program one of deep connection, creativity, and spiritual growth.

  • Solar Project – Power Disruption August 7th

The Solar Project is set to begin on Monday, August 4th! To tie the power lines into the existing electrical system, the power will be off on Thursday, August 7th to the entire building. The equipment for the project is being delivered this week to the back of the parking lot next to the Gateways Building. The area where the supplies are is coned off. When work begins, the lot will be coned off at the corner where the sidewalks meet and parking lot narrows. All accessible spots will be available and the sidewalk to the Gateways front door will be available for use. We anticipate this being in place throughout the entirety of the project, which is anticipated taking 2 to 3 weeks, assuming the weather cooperates. We ask that you please leave the spots in the parking lot next to the Gateways Building for those who need accessible parking. If you have any questions, please reach out to Katy at kjulich@muuf.org.
